1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They help websites remember your preferences, keep you logged in between sessions, and understand how the site is being used.
Sukrat also uses similar technologies such as local storage and session tokens to operate certain platform features.
2. Cookies We Use
2.1 Essential Cookies
These cookies are required for the platform to function. You cannot opt out of them without losing core functionality.
| Cookie / Technology | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Authentication token | Supabase | Keeps you logged into your account between page loads and sessions |
| Session token | Supabase | Maintains your active session securely; refreshed automatically |
| CSRF protection | Sukrat | Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks |
| Security cookies | Cloudflare | Protects against DDoS attacks and malicious traffic; maintains WAF rules |
| Stripe payment session | Stripe | Required to complete subscription checkout; not stored after transaction |
2.2 Functional Cookies
These cookies remember your preferences to improve your experience. They are not strictly required but enhance usability.
| Cookie / Technology | Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| UI preferences (theme, layout) | Sukrat (local storage) | Remembers your display and accessibility preferences |
| Last-used curriculum settings | Sukrat (local storage) | Restores your subject and exam board selection between sessions |
2.3 Analytics Cookies
These cookies help us understand how the platform is being used so we can improve it. We use PostHog for product analytics. PostHog is configured to receive anonymized usage events only — no personally identifiable information (name, email, or student ID) is transmitted.
| Cookie / Technology | Provider | Data Transmitted | Purpose |
|---|---|---|---|
| Analytics events | PostHog | Anonymized events: pages visited, features used, session duration | Understanding feature usage and identifying UX improvements |
We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any advertising analytics tools on the Sukrat platform.
Cookie consent: Where required by applicable law (including GDPR and the EU ePrivacy Directive for users in the EU/UK), we will present a cookie consent notice before setting non-essential analytics cookies. You may withdraw consent at any time by adjusting your browser settings or contacting legal@sukrat.ai. Essential cookies do not require consent as they are strictly necessary for the platform to function.
2.4 What We Do Not Use
- Advertising or retargeting cookies — Sukrat does not run behavioral advertising and does not allow third-party ad trackers on the platform
- Social media tracking pixels — no Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or LinkedIn tracking pixels on the authenticated platform
- Cross-site tracking — we do not track your activity across other websites
3. Third-Party Cookies
Some of our service providers set their own cookies as part of delivering their service. These providers operate under their own privacy policies:
| Provider | Cookies Set For | Policy |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Authentication | supabase.com/privacy |
| Cloudflare | Security and CDN | cloudflare.com/privacypolicy |
| Stripe | Payment checkout | stripe.com/privacy |
| PostHog | Analytics (anonymized) | posthog.com/privacy |
4. Cookie Duration
| Type | Duration |
|---|---|
| Session cookies | Deleted when you close your browser |
| Persistent authentication cookies | Up to 30 days (refreshed on active use) |
| Functional preference cookies | Until manually cleared or account deletion |
| Analytics cookies | Up to 90 days, then deleted |
5. Managing Your Cookie Preferences
Browser Settings
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:
- View cookies stored on your device
- Delete some or all cookies
- Block cookies from specific sites or third parties
- Set preferences for future cookie acceptance
Note: Disabling essential cookies (authentication, session) will prevent you from logging in and using the platform.
Common browser cookie settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and Site Permissions
Do Not Track
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” (DNT) signal. Sukrat acknowledges DNT signals. Analytics via PostHog is already limited to anonymized, aggregated events with no PII regardless of DNT status. We do not engage in behavioral tracking or cross-site profiling that would be affected by a DNT signal.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add or change technologies on the platform. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated via an in-product notice.
